The Scottish Fiction Sessions

a2936997215_10The Scottish Fiction Sessions compilation album is released today, featuring 21 exclusive session tracks recording in Pulse Community Radio studios for the Scottish Fiction Radio show.

With tracks from the likes of SAY Award winner RM Hubbert, Caledonia troubadour Blue Rose Code, and the acclaimed alt-rocker Algernon Doll, it’s safe to say that some of Scotland’s best musical talents are represented on this release.

Each of the artists involved have kindly donated the recordings to this compilation which is available to download via Bandcamp for a minimum of £3.

The compilation aims to raise vital funds for Pulse Community Radio, a volunteer run and registered charity community radio station based out of Barrhead, East Renfrewshire.

The station is home to the Scottish Fiction radio show, as well as countless other shows, and has supporting new, independent and local music at the heart of it’s ethos.

Like most community radio stations, Pulse 98.4 is run by passionate people giving up their time and effort.

Money for community radio is in short supply, so only by various fund-raising initiatives can they raise the money needed to stay on air.

With such a vibrant music community in Scotland, the importance of radio support for this community cannot be overlooked.

Whitburn based lo-fi singer songwriter Lovers Turn To Monsters can testify about the benefits of support from community radio:

“In the Scottish music scene there is admittedly a large abudance of bloggers, podcasters, DJs, and promoters.

“But no one deserves more recognition than Scottish Fiction and the folk over at Pulse Community Radio.

“As a reasonably unknown musician the folks at Pulse 98.4 have shown nothing but support to my little musical project and are never afraid to include the more unknown artists alongside some of the biggest and best known musicians around…  Long may they reign!”
