Final Line Up announcement for Riverside Festival – hip-hop legend JRocc to headline Optimo Stage

J.Rocc by B+(1)Electric Frog and Pressure Riverside Festival – Glasgow’s first electronic music festival on the grounds of the iconic Riverside Museum and Tall Ship on Saturday 24th August 2013 – have confirmed the final line up for their inaugural event.  Organisers have ensured that there’s something for everyone and have confirmed hip hop legend J Rocc will headline the Optimo stage.

One of the original turntablists, J Rocc founded the Beat Junkies in 1992 with Melo-D and Rhettmatic, but has done just as much on his own as in a group setting.

He began DJing in the mid-’80s with a California group named PSK.

Soon after forming, the Beat Junkies became a seminal force in the rise of instrumental hip-hop, including core member Babu plus future stars Shortkut and D-Styles. In addition to numerous mixtapes and his own production for Stones Throw releases, J Rocc has been the DJ for Madlib’s live shows since the early 2000′s, was the third member of Jaylib (Madlib & J Dilla) during the group’s live events, and collaborated with Madlib on Beat Konducta Vol. 5-6: A Tribute to J Dilla.

Warming up for J Rocc on the Optimo stage is Pro Vinylist Karim, who has held residences at many of the best clubs in Glasgow.

The first act on the main stage is Glasgow’s unsung hero Club 69’s Martin McKay.

With Boys Noize, Jamie XX, Len Faki, Josh Wink, Underground Resistance, Michael Mayer, Nina Kraviz, Slam, Optimo and Auntie Flo already confirmed this is going to be the event of the summer.

It’s not all about the music.

There’s an array of comedy talent aboard The Tall Ship, including: The Wee Man, Reverend Obadiah Steppinwolf The Third, Gary Little, Mark Nelson, Joe Heenan, Scott Gibson McCain, Jellybean Martinez, Susie McCabe, Jamie Dalglish, Chris Conroy, Darren Connell, John McGoldrick and Davey Connor.

The event also features performance art, boutique stalls, and the very best in street food.
